Woman Killed in Firebaugh Crash With Semi-Truck on Interstate 5 near Nees Avenue
Firebaugh, California (June 25, 2022) – A woman died following a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig on Interstate 5 near Firebaugh in Fresno County Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck was reported at around 2:17 p.m. just south of the Nees Avenue off-ramp.
CHP said a 2016 Freightliner heading north on I-5 reportedly failed to slow down and rear-ended four vehicles that were slowing down due to an earlier vehicle fire on the side of the highway.
The big rig rolled over following the impact of the collision.
A woman sitting in the right rear passenger seat of a 2016 Nissan Murano that was first hit by the big rig died in the crash. Her identity was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.
Other parties sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
