Rancho Cucamonga, California (June 30, 2022) – Debbie Morgan-Alam has been identified as the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday evening, according to authorities.
The incident happened at around 6:50 p.m. on June 25, on Archibald Avenue.
Authorities said Morgan-Alam was riding a bike westbound on the Pacific Electric Trail when she was hit by a vehicle driven southbound on Archibald Avenue by Jessica Carrillo, 19, of San Bernardino.
Authorities said Carrillo failed to stop for a red light at the intersection, leading to the collision.
Morgan-Alam was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
Authorities arrested Carrillo for gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence with .08 percent alcohol content, and DUI causing injury.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
Rancho Cucamonga, California (June 29, 2022) – Authorities have arrested Jessica Carrillo, 19, after a fatal DUI collision that killed a bicyclist on Saturday evening near the Pacific Electric Trail crossing in Rancho Cucamonga.
According to a report by the CHP officials, the collision was reported at 6:50 p.m. on June 25, on Archibald Avenue.
A witness told authorities he was heading south on Archibald Avenue when he ran a red light and hit the bicyclist cycling west on the trail across the Avenue.
Firefighters and medical personnel arrived at the scene and declared the rider dead at the scene. The name of the deceased was not immediately provided, awaiting notification of family.
Authorities later arrested Carrillo, the San Bernardino woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol with .08 percent alcohol content, DUI causing injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
