Barbara Guth ID’d as Woman Killed in Merced Collision on Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue

Merced, California (June 24, 2022) – Barbara Guth, 75, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Merced on Wednesday afternoon, according to the authorities.

She was a passenger in a 2019 Volkswagen that had been traveling south on Cooper Avenue and stopped at the intersection of Ashby Road.

A 2019 Nissan traveling west on Ashby Road turned onto southbound Cooper Avenue and collided with the left side of the stopped Volkswagen.

The impact caused the Volkswagen to overturn onto the shoulder of Cooper Avenue.

Authorities said the collision occurred just after 12:30 p.m. on June 22.

Guth sadly died as a result of the accident.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Heintz Guth, 85, and the driver of the Nissan, Ashlie Resendes, 22, of Fresno, were both taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Merced, California (June 22, 2022) – At least one person was killed Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Merced.

According to the CHP, the deadly crash occurred at about 12: 41 p.m. at the intersection of Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue.

It was not immediately clear what caused the two vehicles to collide. Authorities say one of the vehicles overturned following the impact.

As per the CHP, at least one person was killed in the collision. No other information regarding the mishap was provided.

The incident is under investigation.
